The old steam locomotive BR 01 180-9 leaves Bowil
After 36 years in Bowil, she returns home to Germany. The new owner, the railway "Bayern Bahn GmbH" has a rail network of 100 km only for nostalgic trips with steam locomotives. The machine will be taken apart, repaired and put together again. in 2-3 years the locomotive will be steaming again.
Ferdinand Steck, the founder of the firm, has bought her in the year 1974 in Germany and let her transport to Bowil in 1975, where she stood the last 36 years and became the landmark of the village.
Technical details: Year of construction 1936, weight 130 t, total lenth 24 m, diameter of the carrying tires 1 and 1,25 m, speed max. 130 km/h.
